Are you disengaged with English? Is it the topics that you are supposed to write about that you struggle to connect with, or maybe the texts you are expected to read? Level Up – Game Based Writing could be the solution!

This subject will give you a glimpse into the life as a computer game journalist. We will examine game reviews, walkthroughs, and beginner’s guides. We will break them down and see what good writing in this genre looks like. We will also examine the sorts of videos that accompany these texts.

In ‘Level Up’, you will create a wide range of texts to publish on our own game review website. These will be reviews, walk throughs, game play videos, and recorded interviews. Don’t worry if writing isn’t your strongest ability: we will help you level up!

We will also be looking for students who can fulfil the role of editors within our publishing house, so if you love the English language, punctuation and grammar – then this subject might be what you have been looking for. What a great way to get industry experience whilst still in school.

All genre of games will be covered, and you will be free to explore the games that you love the most. FPS, RTS, RPG, Survival, Simulations, Strategy, Console, PC, Mobile. (Maybe even boardgames?)

You have an opportunity to really shape what it will become. Join us. Play games, read about games and write about games.
