Music Stage and Beyond
(Extensions in Music Performance)
YEAR LONG
Calling TC musicians: Is this you?
I love the Music Performance elective and want to take it to the next level.
I am experienced on my instrument (at least 12 months) and can demonstrate a commitment to practice and a desire to improve.
I have completed two semesters of the Music Performance elective. (Please see Music staff if you have questions about this.)
I may want to take the VCE Music class in the future.
‘Stage and Beyond’ builds upon the framework you have experienced in the Music Performance elective but gives you even more opportunities to develop your skills and achieve your potential.
We are looking for students who want to:
Get on stage and improve their performance skills
Engage in workshops and intensives to broaden their musical experience
Dive into fundamental aspects of musical theory that relate directly to improving performance
Get into the TC Studio to record music and get it out there
Develop their songwriting ability and engage their creativity in writing lyrics and music
Investigate a pathway to get their musical chops up to excel in VCE Music
Each term, students will be required to participate in the many various performances that happen within the TC Music Community, from lunchtime concerts and busking opportunities to formal assemblies and evening concerts.
In order for students to be able to come together and rehearse competently we require all students to enrol in instrumental music lessons either at the College or externally.
FAQ:
Q: What instruments can you use in this elective?
A: ANY INSTRUMENT!
Q: It is possible to choose both Music Elective and Stage & Beyond. However, these classes are designed to support students at different stages in their musical journey, and it is likely that one class will suit you better. An great alternative could be taking Stage & Beyond with Pre-VCE Music to get both performance and theoretical experience.
Q: Can I do VCE Music and Stage and Beyond?
A: It is possible to choose both Stage & Beyond and VCE Music. Both classes require lots of practice and can differ significantly, so it is important to understand that you will need considerable time in your week to practice for both classes.
