Fitness & Training (new name!)
semester 1 & 2
Fitness is run at Templestowe College in conjunction with Cornerstone Fitness.
Fitness and Training is a practical subject where students are equipped with personalised training plans along with the support of a Qualified Personal Trainer to manage their health and fitness.
In this elective subject students are supported in the process of identifying key health and fitness goals, creating specific training plans for the term training block and keeping track of their productivity through training data sheets.
This subject also includes regular and consistent class discussions on a wide variety of health and fitness topics that contribute to a greater knowledge allowing students to have a better understating of ways in which to create and manage a healthy lifestyle. Such fitness topics include but are not limited to, sleeping habits, training principals, nutrition, influential health habits and many more.
In Fitness & Training the priority is to support everyone increasing their general health and fitness, building the appropriate skill sets to be effective within a gym space, increasing health and training knowledge whilst creating and implementing healthy habits around managing our bodies.
This is and will be achieved in many different ways, Strength and Training is not a ‘one size fits all’ structure but rather a class that is tailored to each students’ personal goals, abilities and physical readiness.
Through regular training and exercise students will see progress and improvement to their health and fitness through the following means:
Increased aerobic and anaerobic capabilities.
Contribute to healthy muscles, joints and bones.
Increased energy.
Experience a sense of wellbeing and be better equipped to cope with stress.
Improved sleeping habits and appetite.
Requirements:
Students must wear some form of active gear to take part in this subject.
Students must keep a record of their program and training.
Students must bring a drink bottle and sweat towel to class.
Students must contribute to maintaining a safe, positive and inclusive training space.
