Outdoor Education - FLE to Pre VCE
year long OR semester 1 & 2
Outdoor Education FLE-Pre VCE can be taken as a Semester length or full-year. Using a point-of-need teaching approach, students can engage with this subject as an elective or continue with the subject for one year in preparation for VCE.
Outdoor Education aims to introduce students to sustainable relationships between people and natural environment. Students would be involved in a range of outdoor activities and will be introduced to skills and techniques required for safe participation in the outdoors and general community, while developing an appreciation and understanding of the natural environment.
This course focuses on students gaining an appreciation of the outdoors and the environmental issues arising from recreation in the natural environment. Students will experience challenging activities in a range of environments and will gain skills for safe participation. When considering this unit, students and parents must be aware that activities will be carried out in all weather conditions and the activities can be physically demanding and exhausting.
The outdoor elective is a pathway program into VCE Outdoor and Environmental Studies and VCE Environmental science. It will ensure you develop the necessary outdoor living skills and basic knowledge required for VCE level. Camps will be a core feature of this subject. Costs are influenced by co-design of experience and will be communicated to the class when camps have been organised.
